Spi Ouest: Day 6

Trinité sur Mer, 5 April 2010

A small update of the last day at La Trinité sur Mer; for this day there were two races sailed. The start was very early; so all the boats could be craned out of the water in the early afternoon. After some working on the rigging and the mast settings the boat speed was better today.

The Mummaduck team went out on the water at 8:15am to have a test run before the first race. In the first race there weren’t many problems and the team finished at tenth place. The upwind speed was already better than yesterday.

In the second race the team had a good start again and with up to the upwind mark the speed was good and they could hold their position in the front of the fleet. Downwind the speed was still good and no places were lost. The last race of this event the Mummaduck finished at a nice fourth position.

After the races the crew immediately started with preparing the boat for transport. Already at 4 o; clock the boat was out of the water. Around 6pm the whole crew was ready to leave. The trip conducted smoothly and the boat arrived in Delft on Tuesday morning.

The next big event for the Mummaduck team will be the Grand Prix Atlantique. This event will be held from April the 28th till the 3th of May at Pornichet, France. Before this event there will be some training sessions to prepare as best as possible for this event.
