Scheveningen, 21 May 2010
Today was the first day of racing in Scheveningen at the North Sea Regatta. With very good weather conditions the Mumma Duck Sailing Team started together with Brunel and Delft Challenge between the IRC2 fleet. In the first and the only race of the day the team finished in first position in the Farr 30 class. There is no better way to start the weekend.
As before the team had a good start in the first race. Maybe they were a bit late, but there was some space around so they could make enough speed. Upwind the boat speed was good, together with the two Farr 30's they sailed to the first mark. Halfway they choose the left side of the track, the others stayed in the middle. By doing that they could make big gains. Now with a big lead in front of the others, the downwind leg could start. Delft Challenge had some more speed in this leg and started to close the gap with the Mumma Duck. But there still enough distance between Delft Challenge and Mumma Duck so the team finished in a first position.
After all the team can be very satisfied with the results of today. But they have to work very hard to stay in the front of the fleet. Tomorrow the first races will start at half past ten. Hopefully there can be three races sailed.
