During the North Sea Regatta hours of training are rewarded for the Mumma Duck Sailing Team. In an exciting fight with three Dutch teams the Mumma Duck Sailing Team won the North Sea Regatta in the Farr30 class. With this victory the team is eager for a good result during the Normandy Sailing Week, next week. During this event Laurent Pages, our skipper for the Tour de France, will be our tactician. Laurant is known for his participation in the Volvo Ocean Race and will be a valuable asset to our team.
North Sea Regatta
For the North Sea Regatta there were three entries in the Farr30 class. Together with Delft Challenge and Brunel, the Mumma Duck Sailing Team had some very nice and close races. Taking tactical decisions and making little mistakes the team has fought hard for victory; of the eight races sailed, six went to the Mumma Duck.
Normandy Sailing Week
The next event will be the Normandy Sailing Week, which will be held from the 4th till the 6th of June, at La Havre, France. Prior to this race the team will train to fine-tune and test the last things for this event. During this Farr30 event all the top teams will appear to prepare the final things for the Tour de France à la Voile, which will start in less than a month. There will start a total of eighteen boats at the Normandy Sailing Week, including a lot of known teams for Mumma Duck from previous races.
Crew
Laurent Pages, as tactician, will strengthen the team during the Normandy Sailing Week. Because Laurent Pages will be the skipper of the team during a large part of the Tour de France à la Voile, this is an excellent opportunity to get to know each other. In addition, the team hopes to learn a lot from his experience and his knowledge.
During the Normandy Sailing Week, Rikst will take the helm and Ties will be at the mainsail. Anton and Ralph will be respectively responsible for the genua and the spinnaker. The rest of the team will consist of Rondy in the pit, and Remko on the bow.
What's next
After the Normandy Sailing Week the boat will be totally prepared for the Tour de France à la Voile 2010. On the 26th of June the first warning sign sounds for the first race of the Tour de France à la Voile. The team is really looking forward to this, because this is what we are preparing for...
