Ready for the Tour!

Delft, 20 June 2010

The mission of the Mumma Duck Sailing Team is approaching its peak. In just a week the Tour de France à la Voile will start in Dunkirk and will finish a month later in the Mediterranean. The team worked very hard the last two years; almost every weekend there was a training session or a race. It was all about to get a good result in this race.

Tour de France à la Voile
During the Tour de France à la Voile the Mumma Duck Sailing Team will sail every day, alternating between various inshore- and offshore races. Saterday, June 26 the event will start at Dunkirk with some inshore races. In de following month the team will head to Royan where the boat will be taken out of the water and continue by road to Port Camargue in the southern France. There will be the last week of sailing. The Mumma Duck Sailing Team takes part in this race with only one goal: to win the amateur ranking. The races that are sailed last year showed us that the competition is fierce. It will certainly be a hard job to finish in front, but definitely not impossible!

Team
To get a good result during this event there are two professional sailors that will strengthen the team. During the first week it is Bouwe Bekking who will be the skipper, later his position will be taken by Laurent Pages. During the tour the core team of 11 sailors is further completed by Bram van der Biest, Alex Pallu and Mijke Lievens. During the event, the team will be supported by a shore crew of five persons: Bas Gerritsen and Inge Bruinessen will provide meals; Kay Heemskerk will keep the Farr 30 in top condition. In addition, Remond Verloop as PR will keep the contact with the media and maintain the website. As shore manager Gerrit van Doornik will ensure that everything goes well.

Sponsors Participating in an event like this is impossible without our sponsors. With our main sponsor Oiltanking and the sponsors Mabanaft and JPM the team is well prepared. But without our various suppliers it would still be a difficult task; like Magic Marine will take care of our top quality team clothing. Fitness First took care of the men and women to stay in shape in-between the races. Gerken Druck, Tijssen Watersport, Schaap Ship Care, Nexus and Leaseplan Direct ensured that the boat and the transport are in top shape. Also we can proudly announce that since this week the supermarket C1000 Zuidpoort in Delft will help to get a good and healthy meal.
