Dunkerque, 28 June 2010
It was a day with changing conditions. The wind was different at every place off the course and also there was the current that turned during the day. So the position on the course was very important. Overall it was a difficult day but the team had some progression comparing to yesterday.
At the start of the first race the team had a very good position on the course but only the speed wasn't good enough. To overtake some boats from the back of the fleet they decided to go to the other side of the course. Afterwards this position was good but they couldn't keep this position till the end of the race. At the start of the second race it was very light weather again so a few people had to go inside the boat. Again the position was good but the boat speed was still an issue. After this second race there wasn't much wind anymore, so the start for the third race was postponed immediately, but it took too long before the wind returned. There would be no third race.
The first offshore race of the event will be held tomorrow, a 25 miles race between Dunkerque and Calais. The teams are expected to be back in the harbor in the beginning of the evening.
Pictures from today can be found here. Many thanks to Carine van de Berg for the pictures of the races.
