After the good result in yesterdays offshore, the team was eager to get a good result again. It was the first time for Pieter to get back on board of the Mumma Duck this race. And new for the team was Alex Pallu he had his really first race on the boat today. Alex will be the helmsman for this week. The first race today was the best one, again a 7th place. The other two races weren't that good, but still satisfying.
In the first race the start wasn't too brilliant. The team head to the first upper mark in 18th position. During the downwind leg the boat speed was good, so they could catch already a lot of boats. Upwind there was some struggling with the jibes. But slowly more and more boats could be overtaken. In the end, at one of the last mark roundings, there were two more boats overtaken. The result: 7th in this first race of the day.
After a good start in the second race there was a general recall. There was already a black flag for one boat, so they had to be careful at the restart. They reached the upper mark almost at last position. By trying some different little things, every time a lot of boats could be overtaken. By this, the team finished in 16th position.
The team had a bad start again in the last race of the day. But during the first upwind there were some boats in trouble. At the upper mark they were almost in the top 10. But with a bad position it was difficult to round. And when they tried to round up they got a penalty, due to that all the positions were lost. Upwind they could catch some boats, but a good result was impossible.
During his first day Alex did a very good job, the communication on board was very good with the rest of the team. There will be one inshore race tomorrow morning. In the afternoon there will be a 200 mile offshore to Pleneuf val André. They will arrive sometime on Tuesday morning.
