VICTORY!

Lorient, 11 July 2010

Une jour, une equipe! The tour enjoys its first weekend in bright orange colours. The Dutch National Soccer team in the finals of the world championships, yesterday a victory for the Brunel team: But today the MummaDuck led the fleet around the Lorient-course from start to finish.

Yesterday the team already finished on a fantastic third place, just behind Brunel and Toulon Provence Mediterranee, solidifying their third place in the amateur classification: Today all the different puzzle pieces fell together into a perfect race. The team made a dazzling start with a very good upwind beat, during which Laurent mentioned "this is going to be our race". During the race the team maintained their position on the other Dutch team (TUDelft) and the very fast Omani's. The light, fickle winds proved very difficult for a number of teams, especially for our competitors Saint Malo and Ville de Genevé, which finished 8th and 12th respectively.

The crew arrived back in the harbour around 13.15, the team is now taking their rest for the 100 miles offshore departing tonight. After these results, the team is very motivated to continue their run! Signing off, Ties
