Finally it was some great sailing weather with a good breeze. Today two races were sailed. Both with good results: second and ninth. There was also some surprising news; tomorrow's offshore will be started this evening because of a weather system closing in fast bringing big breeze.
After two weeks of sailing in light breeze a solid 15 knot breeze kicked in, together with some big waves. Those two factors made it very difficult for both the trim and the helming. After the start of the first race the Mumma Duck immediately went to the right part of the course rounding the mark in a fourth place. In the downwind part the team pushed hard and overtook the leading boats. In the second upwind leg TPM however took the lead again. Mumma Duck finished in a nice second place.
At 12 o'clock the breeze dropped to 10 knots. With the waves still present boat speed became a real challenge. In the first upwind leg Laurent decided to go the right side again expecting a major shift. The choice didn't work out well resulting to a position in the back of the fleet. The team pushed hard and began fighting their way back into the top. In the first downwind leg the team overtook two of three boats, and some more in the second upwind. After rounding the mark in a 12th place the hunt was on to get back into the top ten; the pack went left as the Mumma Duck went right. At the finish the team scored a ninth position just behind the number 7 and 8.
As mentioned the offshore to Royan start this evening. The boats are expected to arrive in the very early morning. Probably there are no inshore races tomorrow at Royan so the whole team can take some rest.
